We use the Media Centre as a training facility as well.

Timberlea also uses the Media Centre for other training programmes and courses. At the moment we do Excel training and Business etiquette training.

We are very happy to have been able to work with the University of Stellenbosch and Multilingua on the isiXhosa-4-iplasi course. Ten students passed the course.

ABET Graduation for the students from Timberlea, Pruimboskloof, Bosrivier and Ceder.

Calmelia Dayimani (graduate)

At my work there is a Media Centre. I am one of the students who attend class there. Last year I studied ABET English Communication Level 2 through Media Works. I am proud of myself, because I work and study.

The day I heard that I passed my Media Works exam I was very proud. I told myself that I had to be even more serious about my future studies. On the 6th of March 2010 we went to Ceder Fruit Farm for our graduation ceremony, were student that had passed various ABET modules in Afrikaans, English and Mathematics from Timberlea, Pruimboskloof, Bosrivier and Ceder had received their certificates. This is a day that I will never forget. It was a very exciting day!

I look forward to continue my future studies, because I want to learn more. Something that I can not forget is: God gave us 24 hours in a day, it depends on us what we do with this time.

Thank you to the Waitrose Foundation and a everyone that helped for making the graduation possible.

Inter Farm Graduation Ceremony

Nosipho Mpoza (graduate)

On the 6th of March 2010 there was a graduation ceremony that was held at Ceder Fruit Farm.

It was a phenomenal day, we were all received a warm welcome. We met interesting people. Seeing the other students received their certificates and reaching their goals were wonderful. We listened to an incredibly motivational speech by Mrs. Bird on education. This was also a great booster for our self-esteem.

It was fantastic to see that what is happening on Timberlea Farm is also happening on other farms. This is something great that is happening in the agricultural sector. This will open doors for future generations.

Another thing Mrs. Bird taught me when giving her speech, is that no thief can ever steal your education.

ABET classes are available to all Timberlea Farm employees.
